The Yough is one of the premium white water destinations on the east coast.  The Lower Yough provides all the excitement without the risk of the Upper Yough which is the real deal!  The rapids for the Lower Yough are class 2-4 (out of a 1-5 scale).  This should provide plenty of excitement for the older scouts and adults, but fine for the younger guys.

We will be rafting with one of the premier outfitters (Ohiopyle Trading Post) in the area.  We will be on a fully guided trip which means that we will have a guide in every raft.  Each raft will carry between 4 to 6 participants depending on how many we have go.  A guide in the boat greatly increases the enjoyment of the trip as well as the safety as they certainly don't want to end up in the water!  Typically the trip is 3-6 hours depending on water level and how big of a group is going.  A deli-style lunch is provided on the trip.

The water will be cold, even in late May, so everyone will be provided a wetsuit which will allow everyone to enjoy the experience without being cold.  In addition, everyone will be required to bring water shoes or old tennis shoes that can get wet.  We should wear nylon or old shorts, no jeans or sweat pants.  Expect to be wet so don't wear things like cotton that will make you cold.  Everyone should bring a towel and dry clothes for the ride home.

On Saturday night we will be camping in Ohiopyle State Park which provides plenty of outdoor activities if time permits.
